I saw this on someone else's blog today, and thought it was cool, so I did one of my own. Enjoy!
25 years ago I was 4 years old. I had a baby sister, Elizabeth. We stayed at home with mommy during the day. Daddy worked at a shoe store on the square in Murfreesboro where we got all our shoes. When it was nice, I played in the backyard. I got letters in the mail from my grandmother telling me to eat all the food on my plate. I had a dog named Tip. Our next-door neighbors had Volkswagen Beetles.
20 years ago I was 9 years old. By this time I had another little sister, Carla. I was in the 3rd grade. My teacher’s name was Mrs. Dice. She was so mean. My best friend at school was Charity, and my best friend at church was Crystal.
15 years ago I was 14 years old. I was in the eighth grade. It was my first year to be a cheerleader. My best friends were Crystal and Chassidy. I discovered around this time that I really loved English, and I was good at it. I was also quite the awkward, gangly, adolescent girl with a terribly embarrassing dry scalp.
10 years ago I was 19 years old. I had a perm. Our family was about to move out of the only house we girls had ever lived in. I was in my second semester of freshman year at MTSU. I loved my English professor, Dr. Strawman, who would go on to become my academic advisor. I also loved wearing my red Lands’ End fleece pullover (with matching hat) that would be a favorite throughout the college years. (Oh, and here’s some humiliating trivia about me: I still had not had my first kiss.)
5 years ago I was 24 years old. I had been married to David for almost two years. We lived in an apartment in Smyrna. I was in the last days of driving the car I had gotten from my parents HS senior year, a silver Mustang convertible. I was miserable working at the Tennessean and trying to figure out what to do next.
3 years ago I was 26 years old. For the first time in my life I was not involved in any groups or programs at church. I was working for DigiScript loving my job. We had been living in our house for less than a year.
1 year ago I was 28 years old and just coming out of the darkest period of my life. I was working for United Methodist Publishing House, which I loved, but didn’t make much money there.
This year (well the past 12 months) I’m 29 years old, and I’m at a brand new job. I’m a full-fledged editor, which is a little overwhelming at times. It’s a lot more responsibility, because if something gets screwed up there’s no one over me to take the rap...it’s all my fault, but that’s good. I feel like I have an adult job.
Yesterday was pretty good. I worked. We had spaghetti and garlic bread for supper. I got a pink flower at church, and worked in the nursery. Crystal (yes, the same one from 3rd grade) hung out with me in the nursery.
Today has been good so far. I put roast, carrots, and potatoes in the crock-pot before I left this morning, so the house will smell divine when I get home. The roast will be delicious. I need to fold laundry and unload the dishwasher tonight. Maybe we’ll watch a movie.
Tomorrow (FRIDAY) I’m making cinnamon rolls for the people I work with. They were exclaiming about how good my cinnamon roll oatmeal smelled this morning, and saying they wished they had some real cinnamon rolls, so tomorrow I’ll take them some. I’m also going to Mom Glenda’s to talk about Mama’s 100th birthday party and work on Save-the-Date cards!

WoW! While I was reading that, I was picturing that letter from Grandmother, Tip, those VW beetles, our house on Florence Rd., Crystal and Emily's playhouse, you in your cheerleading uniform, the mustang... what a concise and well described trip down memory lane! I'm glad you like your new job!
Love you!
