First Time for Everything

I will soon be buying a comic book for the first time in my life. I called the local comic book store today, and I didn't even really know how to talk to the guy without sounding like a total idiot.

Update: click on the phrase "comic book" and you should be able to see what I want to get...it's a comic version of Pride & Prejudice...a 5-volume series.

A Little Late to the Party

So over the last couple of weeks I have been absolutely sucked (haha...punny) into the world of the Twilight saga by Stephenie Meyer. Many of my younger friends including my niece Mackenzie have been asking me for months if I've read these books, and I just hadn't gotten around to it. Well, I finally did, and I love them. They are so amazing!

Well, when the Twilight movie came out last holiday season, David was on strike and money to go the movies was scarce. Plus, I hadn't read the book yet, so I wanted to wait until it came out on DVD. Last night at 12:01 Twilight was released on DVD.

My friend at work has been reading the books, too, and we were very excited to see the movie, so we started toying with the idea of a sort-of slumber party to watch the movie version of our last book club book, The Secret Life of Bees, and Twilight.

I invited Mackenzie and Taylor to come along and Jennifer's cousin Katherine was with her, and we were at Wal-Mart on Old Fort Parkway at 12:15 this morning and WOW! They had probably ten registers open plus the self-check, and there was a line to pay at every single one. I really couldn't believe how many people were there. I've never done something like that, but it was really fun. We went back to Jennifer's house and watched the movie immediately. Wonderful adaptation!

There are now two adolescent girls sacked out in my guest room, and their "cool aunt" has a headache. I'm definitely gonna need a nap this afternoon!

They Say Confession is Good for the Soul

Tonight I picked up AbiLyn and Lex from daycare and brought them to my house. I fed them supper and got them ready for church, and Eric was going to pick them up on the way to church.

Well, they were playing with these little glass jar/bottle things in the tub. I got AbiLyn out first and was getting her hair combed out and her dressed, etc. Lex was in the tub still playing and carrying on. When I got him out and was getting him dried off and warmed up, David went in the bathroom, and I said what are you looking at? He said, the broken glass in the tub.

OMG...Lex had scraped up his little hands and got a cut on his leg...I feel awful! He wasn't really crying or anything, but I am so upset.

I thought maybe if I put it here, I could quit thinking about how much worse it could have been and get some rest.

Sorry, Lexie-poo. I'm going to come see you on my lunch tomorrow to check on you!
Love, Aunt Michele

What a Day!

I cannot believe the day I just had. I experienced some really cool places that were new to me and visited some old favorites. It all started a few weeks ago, when I was telling my co-worker about McKay's in Nashville. Well, she had never been there. We started planning a trip on some random Saturday. Now the holidays are over, and it was time to make that trip. Today was the day!

Of course, the trip grew. We decided we would head away from M'boro early and eat breakfast at Loveless. Then we decided we wanted to go to Green Hills, then she ended up having an appt. to get her hair done. So here's how my day went.

7:00 - Jennifer picks me up with hot Starbucks ready to go.
8:00 - Breakfast at Loveless...award winning biscuits, country ham, blackberry and peach preserves...heaven!
9:00 - Whole Foods in the new Hill Center...well new to me. This grocery store was so cool. I can't wait til M'boro gets one...hopefully it will be soon.
10:00 - Jennifer had a hair appt. in the 12South neighborhood, so while she did that I hung out at the Frothy Monkey coffee shop and read my book club book.
12:30 - We headed back to the Hill Center to go to the Anthropologie store. This store is wonderful...a girly girl's paradise. I have always enjoyed their website and catalog, but this was my first visit to the brick-and-mortar store. I could do some serious damage in there, but I refrained. We also checked out Swoozie's and the Life is Good store.
1:30 - Lunch at brontë at Davis-Kidd
2:00 - Green Hills shopping...all I got were some dishcloths at Williams-Sonoma and some tights for next winter on clearance at Ann Taylor. Oh, I also had some delicious iced tea from Teavana.
4:30ish - McKay's...as usual I got a tall stack of books for about $20.

Now...I'm home! I just took a shower and got in my PJs, and I'm so tired! Night-Night everyone.

Yay March!

March is here! Today is the first day of meteorological spring...though you wouldn't know it to look outside. I don't mind the snow, but I'm glad all this is soon coming to an end! The time change is next week, and I'm so happy!
